Enjoy the moment.

“Enjoy the moment”

Everyone says this like there’s nothing to it, but in truth, it sounds easier than it is.

Seriously...when one is in the throes of being interviewed, there is a lot going on - including but not limited to - the groomers, the reps, the studio team, the pressure of being on, not wanting to disappoint. The project could have been shot a few months ago or even a few years ago. And then there is just being in that chair. No script. No director. It’s times like these that a 20-minute interview can feel endless. A 5-minute interview can either be a blip, (did you even get a chance to say anything of substance) or it can feel interminably long.

How do you stay in the moment?

This is one moment in your career. Behind you, you have your career history. In front of you is the career you’ve always dreamed of achieving. But right now, is your time to promote this project for the first time, and it will be over in a blink. There is no going back, this is the time.

Being thoughtful and mindful about what you want to share and, perhaps just as importantly, what you absolutely do not want to share is key. If you take the time to prepare, make certain you have a good idea of where you want to go with your interviews, (no matter what the journalist/interviewer asks) then you will be able to breathe, be confident, and enjoy the moment. Honestly, when you’re enjoying yourself, the audience will feel that joy too.

And when you can properly communicate your own joy, and maintain a present awareness, then that is what I would call success for your project and most importantly, success for you.
